Dawn MacLean appointed Hillview School Principal

Northland School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn MacLean as the new Principal of Hillview School, effective 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. MacLean returned to Northland this year and recently served as Principal at Bishop Routhier School.

“As a Métis educator, I am thrilled to continue my career in the East Prairie Métis Settlement,” said MacLean. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach students from Kindergarten through Grade 9, and to support teachers, educational assistants, and our most vulnerable students as a classroom support teacher. “I am very eager to meet with families and community members and work together on supporting the learning journey for each student at Hillview School.”

Mrs. MacLean's diverse experience across the High Prairie School Division, Grande Prairie Public School Division, and Grande Prairie Catholic School District has prepared her for this leadership opportunity. As a Métis educator and a passionate advocate for Indigenous youth, she brings a valuable perspective to her role.

Mrs. MacLean holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta with a focus on elementary education and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in psychology and a minor in sociology from Concordia University of Edmonton.
